Combattimento specializes in music of the Baroque period, making regular forays in to other styles and eras. Both well-known and rare, unknown works from the incredibly rich seventeenth and eighteenth-century canon form the core of our repertoire, especially those in which fantasy and movement play a major role. The members of Combattimento, each equipped with soloistic qualities, carry a wealth of accumulated knowledge and experience and that the enjoy sharing with audiences. Together they form a close-knit ensemble that has worked for years and continues to work on its own unique sound and playing manner: energetic, fiery and conscious of style. The ensemble likes to get close to its audience and wants to bring classical music in a lively and arresting way. Therefore, Combattimento likes to play not only in the regular concert halls, but also in smaller venues, such as beautiful churches, intimate chamber music venues or now and then an old castle.
