DJC53

Plattsburgh

Born and raised in Massachusetts, DJC53 (aka Glenn Morello) had deep roots in the hip hop movement in the 80s and 90s. From books of hand written song lyrics to scratching on his Panasonic sound system, DJC53 was fully immersed in the meaningful and strong hip hop messages backed by boom bap beats. DJC53 got his first turntables shortly after college and began his record curation and collection of sound samples, using Reason as his workhorse for early beat making. Upgrades to his equipment and changes in his physical locations over the years (NC, TX, PA, Tromsø, HI, ND, and now NY) provided him fuel and a sense of worldliness that he tries to pump into every track he makes. Focusing mostly on instrumental hip hop and lofi style beats, he is finding his space in the music world. His inspirations come from all around including his background in chemistry (he holds a PhD in theoretical chemistry) and you will find his songs reflect his wide taste of music and art.
