I am a senior citizen who believes in lifelong learning; in particular developing my musical skills. When performing I like to call myself “Dr. Smooth.” My musical journey began in 2010 when I wanted to give my wife something at our wedding that no one else could, which was to sing “Betcha By Golly Wow.” In preparation for that I took vocal lessons from grammy award winning Diana Grasselli, and after the wedding experience I began singing at local senior care centers and karaoke events. I wanted to be able to accompany myself on piano, so in 2020, inspired by my son Juan Williams—an accomplished musician himself—I started taking piano lessons at MacPhail with Susana Pinto. My developing piano skills enabled me to transition from karaoke to open mics; I also began coming up with ideas for songs.
