Humber College graduate, Dwayne Livingstone, is one of the finest bass players in Canada. Hailing originally from the small-town Endeavour, St. Ann in Jamaica he takes to the Canadian scene his roots of reggae music fused with the tasty jazz fusion sounds akin to that of Marcus Miller and the late great Jacco Pastorious. He started playing guitar at the age of five when his dad who also played the guitar taught him some basic chords and progressions.
Maurice Gordon, a past tutor of Dwayne at the Edna Manley College of the Visual & Performing Arts (Jamaica School of Music) was one of the most fundamental builders of his technical skills on the bass. Later in his career, he met other greats such as Mike Downes, Pat Kilbride, and Rich Brown who helped to further sharpen not only his skills but his ability to create music.
Dwayne also plays the guitar, piano and ukulele, skills he garnered over the decades of being an instructor of music and band coordinator.
