My earliest memory of soul music came from my mother, it was pancakes on Sundays with chocomile and oldies playing on the radio. I give my mother most of the credit when it comes to my music taste for sure, but my father was the musically talented one of the two. It was at the carne asadas that he would imitate the greats of Mexico's musical legacy such as "Vicente Fernandez", and "Chuy Chavez" from los Originales de San Juan. Being a first generation Chicano is an identity that really puts the grasping of the two flags into perspective. I will never be Mexican enough or American enough, but to be somewhere in the middles my destiny....and with my music I will leave my legacy. Viva La Raza!
