El Sombra, o cara podre, is the alter ego of Melo D, the musician who belonged to the acid jazz band CoolHipnoise (with whom he recorded two albums) and the pioneering Portuguese hip-hop collective The Family, with whom he took part in the first Portuguese rap compilation released in 1994.
In this, his first full-length, El Sombra shares the music that remains unpublished, the musical experiences that result from years of living and observing the modus vivendi of humans. It is in music that our anti-hero finds the strength to confront the villains. Unscrupulous men fear his supernatural strength. It is in music that our anti-hero finds the strength to confront the villains. Raw funk, soul, jazz, house, and afrobeats blend together to create a kind of free contemporary urban music, bringin fear to Unscrupulous men who fear his supernatural powers.
