Inspired by the passion of percussion, the fun of disco and big band music from the African diaspora, Gabriella jumped from medicine to music, bridging her love of music and healing for an eclectic musical blend. Born in Canada of Haitian parents, Gabriella credits her parents for bringing the music of Africa, Haiti, and Cuba into the house on Sunday afternoons and for dragging her to violin lessons, giving her the means to create sound with her hands. She eventually pursue a ‘practical’ route, practicing medicine in NYC where she eagerly studied djembe, doundoun, Haitian drumming, jazz and blues violin with master teachers.
In 2010 she founded Grace Drums Percussion and Vocals performing throughout NYC. Her solo path started with her EP Grace n’ Gaby (2020). Her new single ‘Speak Over’ marks a new exploration with vocalist Rosa Russ and producer Shawn V. Lucas, bringing back the easiness of 80’s and 90's R&B, for a comforting embrace in a chaotic world.
