Teacher/Gary Spears was born in the Pacific Northwest and is a writer, lyricist, musician, and amateur filmmaker whose work explores the intersection of music, memory, identity, and real life. A lifelong admirer of the Pacific Northwest’s creative landscape, he approaches songwriting with a documentary eye and a poet’s ear for rhythm, character, and truth. As Teacher, Gary creates music built around storytelling. His songs move through rock, grunge, classic rock, psychedelic textures, reflective ballads, and harder guitar-driven material while keeping the focus on the story behind the sound. Rather than chasing one fixed genre, Teacher treats each song as its own scene, giving the music whatever atmosphere, weight, or energy the story calls for.
