Gladwyn Badger is an Indigenous surf and blues guitar-based musician from Edmonton, Alberta. He began performing instrumental surf rock music with his band “The DirtyByrds” shortly after restrictions began to ease from the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021.
Eventually, Gladwyn branched away from playing traditional surf rock cover songs and found inspiration to write his own music by listening to the soundtracks of Italian Spaghetti Western films. Most notably the compositions of Ennio Morricone and the Mexican American context of these films. Rez-Rok came to be after listening to Kenny Burrell’s rendition of “Chitlins Con Carne”.
