Brisbane based emerging HipHop artist Jessiah Mabo also known as HAiZ strives to uplift the HipHop scene in Australia. As a young Torres Strait islander, music & dance has always been a part of his culture & being indigenous it is important for him to carry on tradition & pass on knowledge to the next generations. As a teen, HAiZ grew up in Cairns North Queensland. Having a lot of family there he soon got out & started seeing & adjusting to life down south & found himself following the wrong crowd. Hanging with friends Hiphop/R&B/Trap music was the main genres being played & what everyone around him knew & listened too. All the songs he knew, he knew word or word from start to finish ever since he was a kid, watching ‘Rage’ every Saturday morning. As a massive fan of Bone Thugs, Dr. Dre, Lil Wayne, Drake, J.Cole and Kendrick Lamar and knowing all their songs as he listens to music every day, It was only natural that he eventually started writing his own songs at 16 & realised
