This Black and Chicana soultress fell in love with singing at 8 years old and belted out her first church solo at 11 in her hometown of Flint, MI. HeatherJo developed her first love by singing in several choirs, summer music camps, performing numerous solos, and winning many talent shows throughout her youth. She even rubbed the' tree of hope' log three times at the Apollo theater in Harlem, NY; that hope failed to rub off during her first try, but she made it through twice after that. HeatherJo studied music education in college and received her undergraduate degree.
