IO Anay Mazavaloha – Artist, Storyteller, Cultural Alchemist
IO Anay Mazavaloha, born Andrianaivomanana Lova, is a multidisciplinary artist from Madagascar whose work lies at the crossroads of music, storytelling, and cultural activism. Under the name Mazavaloha, he crafts a bold and poetic soundscape, blending traditional Malagasy rhythms with electronic textures, reggae, blues, down-tempo, and experimental sound design.
His music is deeply rooted in the heritage of southern Madagascar, especially the rhythms of tsinjaka and beko, which he reimagines with modern tools-DJ techniques, field recordings, and ambient layers-creating a style that is both ancestral and futuristic. Tracks like Tsodrano, Mi kroi, and Babylon Is Falling are sonic offerings-part ritual, part rebellion.
