Joy Odiete (J'odie) came into the limelight by participating in the premiere edition of Idols West Africa in 2007, where she came top 10. Her debut song, Kuchi Kuchi, has won nominations, such as the Nigerian Entertainment Awards (NEA), New York, as the "Indigenous Artiste of the Year" 2011; and awards, such as the Nigerian Music Video Awards' (NMVA) "Video of the Year" and "Best High Life Video" in 2012. She is a singer, writer, entrepreneur and the coordinator of Chinua Children Care Foundation, named after her son, Chinua, living with lissencephaly and cerebral palsy. The organization was established to reach out to parents who have children with special needs by providing assistive gadgets for the kids and to positively influence the minds of people concerning disability.
