Originally out of Canada (half Canadian; half Australian…now living in Southern Texas) I was raised in church. Had a horrible experience that fired me out of the doors of the church and into the World. The next ten years I lived the “Club” lifestyle, Doorman, bartender and yes, DJ. After enough of the road to Hell, Jesus graciously took me back. I left every bit of music production (back then: tables and a Roland Mac-303) out of the fear it may drag me back into “the lifestyle.” Years later: a pastor, married with kids I ride holy (wink wink). I essentially am a DJ. Yes I use programs and instruments to get sounds. But mostly I use samples and chop the snot out of them until I get what sounds good. I get my samples from wherever I can, including getting AI to make certain riffs or baselines. As well I get samples off places like Looperman, Free sound and I buy sample packs from Big Fish. I generate vocals or take my own voice and run it through generators or sing it outright.
