Johnathan Batista Quartet is a Brazilian/Irish musical group that mixes jazz and Afro-Latin rhythms and perspectives. With an anti-capitalist spirit and an adventurous artistic vision, the composer Johnathan Batista merges the improvisational tradition and working-class musical ethos.
Johnathan Batista besides being the main composer and band-leader for this project is also co-creator of the Brazilica project, one of the most influential representatives of Brazilian culture and music in Dublin. Brazilica played in diverse events like the jazz brunch in the Tram Café and the Carnival party at the wigwam. In 2019, Brazilica was the only musical attraction on Brazilian Day, organized by Trinity College Dublin. Johnathan Santos is currently getting his Master's in Music Composition in Maynooth and has a degree in Jazz Performance from DCU.
