Kay Jae’s (a Rockford, IL native) interest in both music and writing began as early as she can remember. She joined her Elementary School band, playing flute, and through this- her love for music grew. She enjoyed spending time learning her passion and music study soon became part of her daily routine. She began writing poetry and spoken word in Middle School and hasn’t stopped since. Through her adolescence, she enjoyed preforming in Music Theatre and Dance as well. After a full recovery from a mental breakdown in 2017, Kay Jae was inspired to begin writing and recording her own songs. Kay Jae’s tunes are inspired by her spirituality, the importance of mental health and her all around love for sound. She states “music saved my life, and it continues to keep me content and driven day in and day out.”
