STORYTELLING. Brought up on the record collection of his mum and dad, Keaton G.T. (Keaton Guimarães-Tolley), a young 21-year-old singer-songwriter from South London, was exposed to Northern Soul and Motown records, the Mod explosions of the 60s/70s, Jazz, traditional Portuguese music and the Country sounds of his inspirations. These have played the part of shaping his own sound and can be heard in his work. The sounds of Cash, Cisco Houston and cries of Dylan, coupled with the Soul in his ears and artists such as The Staple Singers, Lightnin’ Hopkins, Ray Charles, Paul Robeson, Donny Hathaway and Van Morrison, Keaton found his deep voice. In tandem with his love for Beat poetry, notably of Ginsberg and Kerouac, Keaton wanted to tell stories. Keaton G.T. has written many songs and September 2020 brings his first official release and debut EP, ‘Lulling The Gulls’ - a project that pulls all these elements together, taking what he’s learnt on his short time here and what he wants to sa
