Landis Maitland-Whitelaw Was exposed to the guitar and harmony for the first time at the age of thirteen. He quickly began to arrange popular piano pieces for the guitar. His first composition, Sunshine, was written at the age of 18, and is his signature piece. He has written and arranged many works for solo: guitar, piano & organ. Duets, trios, band, small orchestra, choir, symphony and video sound tracks and a documentary film “Say Hello to Fredrick”(2006). Landis was invited to play solo guitar for the visit of H.R.H. the Prince of Wales in Saskatoon Sask. 2001. As a studio musician Landis can be heard on the albums In-A-Chord by Danny MacDonald (1998) and Spirit Songs by Karen Scott Barss (2005).
He has two independent recordings: Top Hat & Black Tie, which have been played both nationally and internationally. In 2005 Landis was inducted into the Canadian League of Composers. Landis is a founding member of the Saskatoon Composers Performance Society (1997)
