Shakendria Holland, professionally known as Layzie is an American rapper from Dallas, TX. Layzie was the middle of 3 children and was known to family and friends as quiet or goofy. From the young age of 6 Layzie began writing poems for her mother and found joy in dancing to hip-hop music. As she continues to blossom, around 11 years old she began writing and performing in her own stage plays. Her self expression flourished even further as she began recording herself freestyling rap vocals over old cassette tapes. Layzie's love for music was born. She would often stay up late and spend long nights writing to random beats from her own imagination and eventually began to influences friends with her gifts by leading cyphers for fun. She always promised them that one day, she would be the next best femcee in the rap gam After graduating from Justin Ford Kimball High school, Layzie worked with several different underground labels but none of them were able to take her to the next level.
