Park (Deftones, Death Cab for Cutie, Deep Sea Diver) & mastered by Greg Calbi & Steve Fallone (The Strokes, Briston Maroney, Metric, St. Vincent), this EP is the first to be recorded by the full band, live and in-studio. The lyrics cut deeper, the instrumentation burns brighter, and the melodies are ear worms that you'll remember until you play them again. The first song on the debut LP "the shadow in me". The album was mixed by Brandon Eggleston (Wye Oak, Modest Mouse, The Mountain Goats, Dandy Warhols, etc), produced by Jonah Cohen & MARBLE, and mastered by Ed Brooks (REM, Death Cab for Cutie, Minus the Bear, Fleet Foxes, Pearl Jam, etc). MARBLE recorded the vast majority of the single/album in our basement studio. During the pandemic, we had to shift from relying on others to learning how to record ourselves. We have learned an enormous amount during this time and this allowed us to finish tracking the record in the throws of the worst parts of quarantine. more

From Chantel: "This song is special to me. I think it's the first one I ever wrote that was truly good. I co-wrote Marble in my apartment with my childhood friend Joel Hoyer the day we started a band together. I later named the band after this song. It's hard to talk about the origin of Marble freely because the story it stemmed from isn't entirely mine to tell. That said, Marble explores a midcentury-esque relationship status quo. Going through the motions, keeping up appearances, resolving to stay together at any cost. Like the surface of water, we can bend and adapt under the weight of a boat, yet be fractured by the smallest thing. But I think relationships like this are built on convincing ourselves we're bending, when the truth is, we've become far too comfortable breaking. Every ounce of resentment we carry leaves an imprint. Every time we disassociate, swallow our words, and betray our bodies, we let ourselves become a passive participant in our own story. The lyrics are more literal than I typically write and I'm proud of how the arrangement came together over years of iterations."
