MOSLEM RAHAL Moslem Rahal was born in Latakia
Syria
in 1977
into a family of artists. The son of a poet and the brother of musicians
from childhood Moslem developed a passion for the percussion and string instruments played by his brothers
although his own chosen insrument is the end-blown reed instrument
the “ney.” Faced with the difficulty of acquiring a good quality ney
where he went on to teach the ney as well as becoming a soloist with the Syrian National Symphony Orchestra. As an internationally recognized ney expert
he has been invited to judge numerous ney competitions in several countries
including Syria
Algeria and Tunisia. He has also taken part in various research projects focusing on the ney
Middle Eastern music and Oriental maqam performance techniques. Rahal has appeared with many international orchestras at leading concert halls and opera houses all over the world
with a reputation as one of the outstanding musicians of his generation. Thanks to his extensive research activity and his numerous collaborations with European artists
