Born and raised on the south side of Chicago, IL MOTHER KONG (Diamond Merrell) surfaced the city during December of 1997. Her musical influences have not only been crafted by her Jamaican ethnicity, but many genres including mainly neo soul, indie R&B and reggae. Today, she is considered by many an indie R&B artist. Writing practically her entire life, she was an author of novelties until age 12, poetry until age 15 and from that point on music. She spent her first 3 years of high school alternating from concert to marching band as a percussionist. During this time her love for the snare and bass drums grew. Now, she is ready to fulfill her artistic purpose and take the music world by storm.
