Maris Mae is a Dutch singer-songwriter from Waddinxveen, a small village in the west of the Netherlands. When she was little, her mother used to read her a lot of stories, especially fairytales were Mariska’s favorite. The dreamy idea of living in a castle and meeting your prince charming always left her with a warm feeling in her heart. She started writing herself. Little stories, whole books and even songs for her toys. Later, this evolved to songwriting, a perfect combination between story writing and music. Maris Mae grew up in a village between a lot of big cities and this made her curious about the world. She always dreamed of travelling, exploring and being independent. She music studies all over the Netherlands and so, she got to find her own way of writing music and which style fit her the most.
