For Meagan, an inexplicable connection to latin and world rhythm formed at a young age with two specific influences, J Lo and Marc Anthony’s “No me Ames” and a gypsy guitar compilation from Costco. Despite being surrounded by classic rock and country, she was hooked on world music from then on. Her connection with genres such as bossa nova, reggae, and cumbia is evident in her solo and group performances as she weaves musical poetry with lighthearted ukulele tunes, emotional piano war protests and melancholy spanish ballads. She currently resides in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island. She teaches music, performs with the multi-singer reggae band “Pozitive Rebellion”. The group performs around the island, backing up several other singers and whose highlights include opening for The Wailers in May 2024 with “Cheko”. This year Meagan will be releasing two new acoustic singles and preparing for the debut of her first full-length musical, "In the Middle of Nowhere".
