Mr Chrisy Mertas is an alternative Surf- Punk band from the remote community of Nhulunbuy, Arnhem Land, Northern Territory, Australia.
The band is known in the Arnhem Land music scene for their energetic attitudes and heavy surf infused sound, mixing the rough community environment with the beautiful ocean surroundings.
Mr Chrisy Mertas pride themselves in continuing the DIY culture and have followed true by self producing and recording all their material; music, photos and videos.
Front man Matt McLean was born and raised in Arnhem Land alongside the catalogue of amazing acts to come out of the region and now runs the production company Aris & Grimes in partnership with Andrew Grimes of Andrew Gurruwiwi Band.
Mr Chrisy Mertas work collaboratively with local Arnhem Land mix engineer Kris Keogh, whose credits include the 2022 Australian Music Prize winning debut album by King Stingray.
