The Honey Ghosts are not a real band. It is the name of a project by songwriter Peter M. Runia who puts his lyrics and music into produced songs with the help of artificial intelligence (mainly SUNO). Runia started writing his own songs as a teenager after he learned how to play guitar. Influenced first by sixties guitar oriented pop by the Beatles or the Kinks and later by the likes of Elvis Costello, the Smiths, Prefab Sprout, the Pixies, R.E.M., Guided by Voices etc. He actively wrote songs from 1986 until 2005, the later years mainly as a co-writer with Frank Siegert. After a long break he picked up songwriting again in 2022. Coming from the above described musical tradition, it is no surprise that the created songs are eclectic but can mainly be labelled as melodic pop/rock, indie pop or alternative rock. Peter Runia hopes that the songs by the Honey Ghosts might be interesting for artists or bands who do not write their own songs or are looking for interesting cover songs.
