Phil Joseph is a Sydney based experimental musician who strives to create music that's "different" by applying uncommon musical techniques to electronic / pop-like styles in an attempt to break conceptual musical boundaries. Many of Phil's works come from his passion for microtonality, custom tuning systems, and the joy of detuning, however Phil is not afraid to force these non-standard microtonal intervals into 12-tonal and jazz harmony contexts. Combining this with the use of uncommon time signatures, metre and experimental tempo shifting, creates music that painfully attempts to maintain some quality of listenability through pop-like structures and catchy melodies whilst remaining needlessly complex.
