Named in 1987 by a friend after the hit record 'Princess Black' by Jamaican artist Edi Fitzroy - R.I.P. Aged fourteen she began writing poems then songs, later based on observations and life experience, influenced by a wide range of artists from the soul, jazz, reggae, r'n'b and rap genres. A successful audition as a backing vocalist and percussionist with local band Capital Letters, touring Europe and the UK, initiated her experience in the music business. Personal tragedy made her leave the music scene for several years. Eventually she began working voluntarily in the community as a radio DJ, facilitated singing workshops, helped to organise local talent events for youngsters and performed as a solo artist as well as with other bands. Her life journey has enriched her own personal repertoire, adding to her uncanny way of elevating others, alongside herself. Named Princess but known as a Queen/Empress to those who have been touched by her humble but strong passion for uplifting music
