RavenThross is a dark folk rock project conjured in the shadow of the
full moon — where most folk music looks back into a romantic past,
RavenThross stares straight ahead, into the burning forests, the drowning
coasts, and the marble halls where empires are still being sold.
At its heart are two hooded figures: The Fiddler, whose weathered baritone
tells the tale, and The Wraith, the haunting female voice that carries the
grief of the dying world — a spectral presence woven through nearly every
song. Around them gather fiddle, hurdy-gurdy, hammered dulcimer, bodhrán,
and the crackle of an unseen fire.
The music draws on dark folk, pagan folk, gothic Americana and Celtic
traditions — somewhere between Wovenhand, Wardruna, Heilung and Nick Cave.
But the themes are unmistakably of our time: climate grief, social
injustice, the cost of greed.
Two EPs, one wound. First the earth dies. Then the kingdoms fall.
