RootsRaider

San Jose

Gabe Abatecola, AKA Roots Raider, is a dub and roots reggae artist from the San Francisco Bay Area. Inspired by some of the most prolific roots and dub reggae artists of the late 70s and early 80s, including the Roots Radics, Scientist, Linval Thompson, Michael Prophet, Wailing Souls, Hugh Mundell, and many more, Roots Raider creates tuff riddims that pay a modern homage to the era. Expect to hear wet spring reverbs, cutting delays, oscillating phasers, and rising/falling wah pedals all backed by the tune of a tuff roots bass line and tight reggae beat. Roots Raider collaborates with all types of reggae artists and vocalists, where you might find various versions of a tuff reggae riddim, whether it's in full vocal form or a chopped up dub version.
