Sam Bekins is a Grand Haven, Michigan native who has been making music for as long as he can remember. Over the past eight years, he has taken that lifelong passion to stages throughout West Michigan, developing a sound rooted in country and classic rock with touches of blues and a laid back coastal feel. Part of a long family tradition of making music, Sam mixes original compositions with familiar favorites to create a show that feels authentic, approachable, and fun. He performs both as a solo act as well as Salmon Co (Sam and Company) with collections of his local musician friends. Sam has performed at many venues along the Lake Michigan shore — including headlining a Grand Haven Free Fridays concert at the Waterfront Stadium, ArtPrize festivities in Grand Rapids, along with many breweries, private parties and weddings — all while managing his type 1 diabetes. For Sam, playing isn’t just something he does — it’s something he’s been doing his whole life.
