Phoenix raised rapper, Satomaa, creates music that’s descriptive in narrative. Each song is reflective of her unique personality while also letting listeners in on her young adult journey. Never feeling like she quite fit in with her peers, the rapper was always intrigued with the arts and began drawing and painting as her form of expression. Years later, she would learn how to play the alto saxophone in the middle school band and later taught herself the guitar. For years Satomaa would entertain the idea of creating her own music and eventually started releasing demos onto SoundCloud. With Ghanaian born parents, Satomaa has always felt very tied to her homeland. She states that it was while going to school for a semester at the University of Ghana she realized she wanted to become a rapper. Now living in Los Angeles, the rapper continues to experiment with her sound and has plans to release music for the remainder of 2021.
