Scale5150 is known for being a producer, beat maker, songwriter, and mastering engineer. Because of his ability to produce tracks and write lyrics, people refer to Scale as the West Coast's Kanye West and some even compare him to D.J. Quik. Scale5150 is a musician who was raised in South Central Los Angeles, California, at a time when crack cocaine and gang violence were prevalent on the streets.
When I was ten years old, my cousin "Penz 1" encouraged me to pursue rapping. My Pops would turn on the Pioneer system and play The Gap Band, Barry White, Isaac Hayes, etc., while my Mom used to listen to Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Burning Spear, etc. These musicians, my friends, and the neighborhood around 51st and Western Avenue where I grew up all serve as sources of inspiration for my music. My collaboration with the great D.J. Aladdin on the Paperchasers album "Street Scholars" is what I'm most proud of. My life's work, my passion, and who I am is hip-hop.
