Richard Hegens, Jr. a professional gospel/jazz flautist whose dream began at an early age, in the church band of his hometown, in Washington, D.C. As a youth, he performed in the D.C. Youth Symphony Orchestra and for a short while, attended 'Duke Ellington School of the Arts'. Richard's style of music has been influenced by famous well-known flute professionals such as: Bobbi Humphrey, Hubert Laws, Herbie Mann, and currently Althea Rene, and Ragan Whiteside. At the age of 24, Richard enlisted in the U.S. Army which allowed him the opportunity to entertain Soldiers worldwide as well as receive 'Special Recognition Award' while serving his country for 'Excellence of Musicianship'. As a solo 'Gospel/Jazz' flautist, Richard is fulfilling his childhood dream and passion by sharing the talents that our Heavenly Father has given to touch the hearts and bring joy to people worldwide.
