I am a 20 year old jazz, blues singer/songwriter from Berkshire. I am at Oxford University studying languages.Having toured with the huge UK country / folk band ‘Ward Thomas’, everything is overdue and my professors are not too happy.
I love blues and jazz, and from early on as a child idolised singers like Ruth Brown, Dinah Washington, Billie Holiday and Donny Hathaway. With my Spanish heritage (on my mother’s side, I am fluent and I sing one of the songs on the EP in Spanish).
The EP is a glimpse into my life. The songs in the EP are about a first love and a lost love. The EP was tracked simply, with a jazz quartet. Upright bass, piano, drums and jazz guitar. You can hear Billie Holiday as a clear influence, but my voice is my own.
“Almost Blue” by Sofia Isobel is my first stab at showing my heart to the world and I hope people enjoy it.
