Southside YB is a 24-year-old upcoming artist from Whanganui, New Zealand, known for his unique sound that blends R&B, hip-hop, and any genre he can get his hands on. His music reflects his upbringing, touching on politics, street life, gangs within Māori and New Zealand culture, and the struggles of Gen Z, including love problems, drug addiction, and the pain of losing friends and loved ones. A humble, respectful, kind, and loving father, Southside YB has always dreamed of becoming the world’s biggest superstar, despite coming from a small town. Now living in Wellington City, he pours his passion for music into spreading a message of one love while addressing his own experiences with addiction and family issues.
