Born in the late 1970s in Harrow, North-West London, Stephen grew up listening to a mixture of 80's indie, early synth- and sample-based dance music, the melodic pop of the 80s and his sister's punk records pounding through his bedroom wall. At a Christian festival in his teens, Stephen felt a calling to make music as a way to worship God, and to bring others closer to their creator. By the middle of the 1990s he was dj-ing regularly and working in an independent record shop (the legendary Left-Legged Pineapple in Loughborough).
Stephen describes his music as reflective, introspective and yet optimistic. It is hard to assign to one particular genre, but different tracks can be described as electronica, chillwave, downtempo, techno, meditative and even dreampop. Stephen is influenced by a wide range of artists and genres, but his top three influences are Aphex Twin, Slowdive and The Chemical Brothers.
