Sumcad

Houston, Texas

Gustavo Sumcad is a Filipino-born singer, songwriter, and engineer based in the Houston area. Raised in Manila by journalist parents, he discovered his love for music early through classic crooners like Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole—artists he often listened to with his father. After moving with his family to Bangkok, he continued developing his voice and guitar skills while nurturing a deep appreciation for timeless vocal artistry. As the eldest of seven siblings, Gustavo became the first in his family to immigrate to the United States, where he built a successful career in engineering and later sponsored his parents and most of his siblings. Throughout his professional journey, he remained active in music, singing tenor in his church choir and writing songs inspired by family, community, & lived experience. Today, Gustavo channels his technical discipline and creative heart into original music that reflects the warmth, resilience, & storytelling spirit that have defined his life.
