A multi-instrumentalist from Cape Town, South Africa, James Harvey (he/they) grew up in a household where curiosity with music was encouraged. As a result, even as they grew up with bluegrass, Celtic, and country music all around them, they have dipped into various genres around the world in various languages. Vocally driven and irreverently imperfectionist, James enjoys the relational, emotional aspects of folk musics, and the window it creates into the cultures to which they all belong. He also believes that almost any genre of music can be folk. James is currently studying to become a psychodynamic music therapist, where they find great joy in expanding their knowledge of music as a tool for healing and fostering knowledge of self.
