Tim Thurman first picked up a guitar at the age of 3 when his dad started teaching him basic chords. He continued to develop
his playing and joined his dad's band at the age of 12 working the bass, playing 50s and 60s standards 4 nights a week (as long as his grades were good). At 16, after jamming in a few local rock bands, Tim and close friend Roland J. formed the rock band Riff Raff and began playing local bars and parties. As Riff Raff continued to progress through various formats and members the band went on to enjoy some success and open for many well-known artists including BTO, Foghat, Greg Allman, The Tubes, Steppenwolf, The Guess Who, Rare Earth and Tommy James and the Shondells, as well as having the opportunity to play guitar for Del Shannon, Lou Christy and Johnny Tillitson. Ever since learning Walk Don't Run (the guitar instrumental by the Ventures), and Chuck Berry riffs from his dad, he developed a great love and passion for the guitar and music in general.
