My musical interest started when I was about 5, listening to my uncle Kenny play with his bluegrass band. I started playing guitar myself, when I was 15, playing with local friends in CA. I wrote my first song in 1972, about my first daughter. Supporting my family was my priority, and since I was insecure about my song writing, I never did anything with my songs or played professionally. In 2005, I moved to Louisiana, and sometime later was playing with a bluegrass band called Down home bluegrass. During this time is when I wrote Pickin’ on Jesus. My inspiration came, realizing I had the opportunity to share my testimony of how Jesus changed my life from drinking and playing music in bars to getting saved, writing and performing in churches for Jesus. The opportunity to tell folks about what Jesus did for me brought me joy and gave me the confidence to take a leap of faith and send Curt Ryle Pickin' on Jesus. He liked it and I am now a signed artis with Black Ribbon Records.
