There’s a quiet confidence running through Creature of Habits. Released on Valentine’s Day 2026, the album captures Toronto trumpeter Tim Hamel at a moment of clarity — grounded in tradition yet unafraid to push forward.
For more than two decades, Hamel has been a steady presence in the Toronto jazz scene, building a career defined by substance over flash. A University of Toronto music graduate, he pairs technical fluency with emotional directness, evident in both his playing and leadership.
He has shared stages and studios with artists including Derek Miller, Richard Underhill, Terry Clarke, Bernie Senensky, Bob Mover, Lesley Mitchell-Clark, Tom Szczniak, Lily Frost, and The Cookers Quintet, and has collaborated with Juno Award–winning artists alongside Willie Nelson and Double Trouble.
On Creature of Habits, what emerges is not just a collection of performances, but a clear statement of identity: seasoned, collaborative, and unmistakably his own.
