I spent my childhood years growing up in Geraldton, Western Australia in the 1970's. My interest in surfing was sparked by my older brother, who actually built a thruster (3 fin board) in the back yard long before anyone had seen one, so yeh I think he's a legend. My family drove across the Nullarbor in a HQ station wagon in the early 1980's to country Victoria where I finished my schooling in Warnambool. I learned to surf in the cold empty waves around Port Fairy. One day my maths teacher bought in his acoustic guitar and played a few big jangly chords, I was transfixed by that beautiful sound of the steel and wood. Around this time I was given a tape of "Blood on the tracks" (Dylan)and Troubadour (JJ Cale). I taught myself guitar by ear and still do. My mum kicked me out of home because I didn't adopt her religion, so I headed up the east coast on a 7 year surf trip to work things out. In 91 I settled in Noosa where I live with my wife and 3 boys. I also fix aeroplanes .
