Bam's Blues

My journey with the blues started in my 30s. Before then I was not a musician. At 30 years of age I purchased an acoustic guitar at a very modest price. I taught myself the basic chords and over the next couple of years learnt the mainstream songs and rhythm patterns. These were not blues songs. My playing was all with a guitar pick, strumming style, and what a good foundation it was too to learn rhythm technique.
However, after a while I began thinking that fingerstyle playing would be a good challenge. I had no idea about it. Anyhow, I purchased a book for novices and it had an accompanying CD with a track in the style of the country blues. Not being a blues aficionado and unbeknownst to me at the time, the instrumental was in the style of “Richland Woman Blues” by long departed Mississippi John Hurt. From that day on I was hooked, bitten by the blues bug. The tune was beautiful and sweet. I had to learn it.......and learn it I did. Then came along the harmonica! :-)
