I grew up in the small, provincial town of Ashbourne on the southern edge of the Peak District in England. My teenage years began with a generic interest in popular music, and most of my music collection from that time consisted of mix tapes and compilations. In the mid-nineties, however, I began to harbour an urge to play the guitar – inspired mainly by the B52s, Guns 'n Roses and Metallica. And then along came Brit Rock, and in particular Oasis. Their music (and attitude) excited me like no other band before, and in 1996 I started my first guitar lessons. In 1998 I met two fellow musicians from Whaley Bridge, just a short train ride from Manchester. The pair introduced me to bands way off my radar at the time, including Rage Against the Machine, Embrace, Jimi Hendrix, and most notably Pearl Jam. Together we formed a band, which eventually became Vinyl Resin. Twenty years later I now live in Copenhagen and perform as a solo musician.
