W E S T H E A R T Being based in the Scottish Highlands, it’s not hard to find inspiration for composing ambient music. Highland based composer W E S T H E A R T started his solo project around early Feb 2020 before the first lockdown hit. The timing felt right to explore new music ideas, with everything that was going on in the world, it felt like peace of mind and space was becoming more and more important in people’s lives. The world events sparked the idea to write music that would give peace and enjoyment without having to give it too much attention. Inspired by the landscape that surrounds his small studio, W E S T H E A R T combines minimal piano with ambient textures and unintrusive beats that take the listener to a space where they will hopefully find calmness and tranquillity. Influenced by The Blue Nile, Aphex Twin, Radiohead, Rival Consoles, and more recently Icelandic composer Ólafur Arnalds, W E S T H E A R T weaves his music on the edge of your attention.
