Watson’s Head grew from the mind of Shawn Eugene Watson, who has been doing music since his early days of growing up in St. Louis, Missouri. He attended Grambling State University on scholarship to play drums and marched in the Word Famed Marching Band. After Grambling, Watson moved to Pittsburgh and played around town with several different bands in different genres, rock, jazz, funk and R&B. He would later join a popular local Reggae band in Pittsburgh and toured the country for more than a year in the late 1980s and early 90’s. Watson’s Head was created in the 90’s when Shawn was on the ground pavement shopping demo tapes. He was told that his music was all over the place and he needed to stay with one genre, but he declined. He also saw that it was difficult to maintain a band, therefore he would hire different band members for gigs.
