Extended Probation are a three-piece punk rock outfit from Leicester which consists of Roman Cook on lead vocals and bass guitar, Jack Walton on lead guitar and backing vocals, and Sam “Robot” Roberts on drums. They refer to themselves as “the most honest punk band in Leicester” which is exemplified in their catalogue of songs such as Punk’s Still Dead and I Don’t Wanna be a Neurotypical. Their provocative lyrics and blistering musical style is akin to that of the classic old-school punk rock groups such as The Clash, Sex Pistols, Ramones, Misfits, and Dead Kennedys. Their mission is to bring youthful energy back to an older style of punk rock that the genre hasn’t seen in the past few decades whilst providing an uncompromising social commentary on the current state of British politics and working-class life that pushes the boundaries of free speech in today’s highly-censored society.
