I am a singer, musician, composer, songwriter, drummer and band leader of Yogoman Burning Band, Yogoman & Bongo Jac and DJ Yogoman. My music career started in Seattle's Underground/DIY Music scene in the 1990's. I was in two bands, Patterns Make Sunrise and Behead The Prophet No Lord Shall Live that toured the U.S. playing all-ages shows before I started DJing vinyl in Bellingham, WA in 1999 at clubs and events publicly. My tastes changed drastically toward Jamaican popular music from the 1960's and 70's when I first heard Rocksteady and Reggae music. I explored the connection between early Reggae, it's predecessors (Mento, Blue Beat, Ska) and it's U.S. influences (RnB & Soul) as a DJ. In 2005 I formed my own group Yogoman Burning Band who combined my influences in Ska, Rocksteady, Reggae, Soul, Funk, RnB, Hip Hop, Rock and set out to make the best and most authentic celebration dance music, focused on bringing people together through dance music.
