Alex is a professional musician, composer and educator in the Boulder/Denver area. He started taking music seriously in high school when he attended the Stanford Jazz workshop in Palo Alto, CA where he learned from legendary musicians such as Mark Turner, Ambrose Akinmusire, Joshua Redman, Ndugu Chancler, and Eric Alexander.
Alex studied music in his college undergrad under the tutelage of Tom Myer of the classical saxophone department and John Gunther of the jazz studies department, as well as Brad Goode, Josh Quinlan, and Paul Romaine. He began gigging around Boulder and Denver while working on his degree with renowned Ghanaian afro-beat drummer Paa Kow.
Alex is the newest member of Denver indie-soul band Mama Magnolia, with whom he has toured with the Shook Twins, recorded, opened for grammy award winning collective Snarky Puppy, and played their first sold-out opening set at Denver’s brand new Mission Ballroom.
